End of Jr. School

This week 12-20-06 the building used as the Jr. School at Mellonville and Celery Ave. in Sanford was demolished. After SNA closed the buildings was used by the Seminole County Schools for administrative offices. It was with a great deal of sadness as I watched so many memories vanish before the wrecking ball.

The Sanford Naval Academy (SNA), was established in 1963 by The Bernard Macfadden Foundation at the facility which was known as the Junior School. The first year's operation included grades 6th through 9th with a total enrollment of 72 students.

Because of the expansion of SNA, the entire school operation was moved to the Senior School location in September of 1965 which is now the home for the New Tribes Mission which are missionaries planting tribal churches to reach people who have never had a single opportunity to hear the Good News.

There is not much history documentation to be found. If you have any documentations, articles and just a story to tell about the old junior school, please let us know by contacting the Headmaster's Office.
