Buxton “Buck” E. Demers, 52, of Johnstown died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Hospice and Palliative Care at North Colorado Medical Center.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1956, in Aurora, Colo., to Earl Edward and Valda Marie (Luning) Demers. He was raised in Virginia and New Jersey. He attended Sanford Naval Academy High School in Sanford, Fla., Central Florida Community College, Houston Fire Academy, Military Intelligence in Fort Huachuca, Ariz., and the Colorado State Patrol Academy.

Buck served in the Army from January 1988 to January 1992.

He was a fireman in Houston, Texas, an Intelligence Analyst in Fort Hood, Texas, and a Trooper and Sergeant for the Colorado State Patrol.

He married Margie Torres on Sept. 24, 1975, in Citrus Springs, Fla. He was of the Presbyterian faith, and attended Grace Community Church in Johnstown, with Pastor Bob Weber. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Buck enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, golfing and working and playing in his yard. He loved gardening. He loved motorcycles, and had a tremendous faith in God. He was the best father in the world and is the love of Margie's life.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Dakota Marie Demers; son, Buxton Demers, Jr., both of Johnstown; step mother, June Junko of Colorado Springs and sons, Steven and Howard Hosp; parents-in-law, Joe and Nydia Torres of Montrose; Raquel (Bob) Mcfee of New Hampshire, and their children Maddie and Ethan; nieces, Susan (Francios) Burianek of Kirland, Wash., and their daughters, Claire and Noel, and Janet Hilder of Dunedin of Florida; cousin, Jean Luning and family of McClean, Va.

He was preceded by his parents; a sister, Marion; brother, Neal Demers; three uncles; and an aunt.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Stoddard Funeral Home.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday at The Corner Stone Evangelical Church, 35 S. Carlson Blvd., Johnstown.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care at North Colorado Medical Center.
